shocking tanks

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Peta is not going to care, why? They are fish...sad but truth. They care for "warm blooded" animals and protecting the environment

Flowerhorns having little space is NOTHING, its not even a blip on the radar of animal suffrage.
Do you really want me to post videos of australias sheep industry, Texas's Horse industry, Japananese dolphin industry, Alaskan seal industry. I dont even want to get into it because it makes me sick to my stomach.
One of the best quotes I have ever heard was, "If all the insects were to disappear from the earth, within 50 years all life on earth would end. If all human beings disappeared from the earth, within 50 years all forms of life would flourish."

PETA is a great organization, And if you say otherwise, Your completely ignorant to what goes on in this country.

PETA ? .... google, google, ah !!

You implying asian breeders pack as many fish as they can into a tank. Its a regular occurrence everywhere, No need to be subjective.

I was merely stating the facts, facts that were backed up with visual examples. I never once stated my personal feelings on the subject. I was simply pointing out the irony of the comments posted over that video when the fact is that the vast majority of FH exported from SE Asia originate from those types of conditions, sometimes FAR worse.

FYI - most of the high quality FH breeders are never sold, at least not until they are no longer willing to breed, so yes, the better part of their entire life is spent under those types of conditions. If you think otherwise, then I suggest a trip to Bangkok & report back on what you discover in the back rooms of the FH breeder facilities. No breeder in their right mind is going to pass off the genetics of any of their fish used to build the foundation of their lines.

Breeders are breeders, and hobbyists are hobbyists?
Are you kidding me? You come in here preaching about PETA & the various atrocities that take place involving animals destined for human consumption - but dare to then justify one type of cruelty to another?

Using that type of logic, we should give commercial farmers a free ride, because after all they are farmers, and we are consumers, and comparing the two is like apples & oranges? What F'd up world do you live in?

I also buy food that is not only raised naturally and humanely (free range), and also slaughtered the same way. My FH are kept by themselves in 90-125 gallon tanks, fed a quality food, and have water changes performed more often than many people who have 10 times the bio load compared to my tanks.

I don't need anyone preaching to me about the atrocities that take place in the world, or attempting to tell me how ignorant I am. I experienced most of what you have described first hand, before you took your first baby step on this planet.

Having said all that, I've been fortunate enough not to have to live in poverty sticken 3rd world country, wondering where my next meal is going to come from. A starving poverty stricken person tends to have a slightly different perspective on the world. The people living in SE Asia tend to be very rich, or very poor, and I have never stood in judgement as to how the average person in that part of the world raises, breeds, or even feeds their fish. It's a different culture altogether, one that most westerners wouldn't begin to understand unless they spent a few yrs living there.

No need for anyone to get all uppity, I'm sure that we all have at least a little room in our life for improvement. I know I do.

Peace

let's keep it civil, please:D

Hmm. Well if you think that then I got a great ocean front property to sell you in Montana. Real cheap.

The problem with extremist groups is they are just that, extremists.
PETA would have no one keeping fish in captivity, and ironically enough also frown on "creating fish breeds that would never occur in nature".
I guess that means PETA supporters should get rid of those filthy hybrid flowerhorns they are currently keeping. :)

Please don’t support the tropical fish trade by purchasing fish. If you enjoy watching fish, consider downloading one of the many colorful and realistic fish computer screensavers available on the Web.

Fish in Tanks? No, Thanks!

PETA is a silly organization but at least they raise awareness about animal abuse. Which is why I am confused you have no compassion for these FH in their tiny cages. Sound like you are guilty of speciesism, pal. You're saying people shouldn't care about one animal because another suffers. You're suggesting we put no effort whatsoever toward reducing the suffering of one animal based solely on the suffering of another animal. Well, guess what? Some people fight for the rights of one animal while others fight for the rights of another. It's more efficient that way. Get over it and read your own posts for a good laugh.
