Some of the animal testing could be skipped if we could ever venture into stem cell research but that is far off and would require some animal testing...

Problem with using people in the early stages of testing is that no one is really pure and as such they are not a good control group. All animals used are bred explicitly for testing.

Honestly if your alive today chances are animal testing was directly responsible. most newer antibiotics have been vetted through animal testing. It is what they call a neccessary evil. Can you imagine the outrage if we infected otherwise healthy people with HIV, Meningitis, ect just to trey a drug on them that may or may not work?

no but a child rapist could find out!

sorry, that sounded like i was having a dig at u lol didnt mean it like that at all.

i do agree with it being a neccessary evil :(
x

Well IMHO a convicted child rapist should never again see the light of day and the mental imbalance they have would not make them viable for testing.

but what about testing drugs that were meant for the 'mentally unstable'?u could use people with certain inbalances to test drugs that have been formed with the intention of fixing that particular imbalance?

I'm not surprised with how those Flowerhorns are kept in Asia. Luckily for my fish, They get to live the "American" Life LOL. As for this PETA nonsense, PETA doesn't give a rats ass about fish, and I doubt they'd care about "fish that you can't find in nature". As for the Asian Aros being fished to be sold, there are farms that grow Asian Arows. They aren't going to disappear, maybe from the wild, but they will still be around, as sad as that sounds, its better than letting the species become extinct.

For mental drugs a lot of the animal testing is more or less used for various complications and side affect testing. A mouse or chimp can not tell you mental shifts.

Perhaps use prisioners in clinical trials when we reach the human stage BUT those people are SOO messed up it would be near impossible to test on them.
