short body oscar

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
yeah tbh a smaller oscar would be a diamond to have sice they do get pretty big. .. the fact that people breed these fish to have longer fins or make them more colourful is outta the Q. 'cuz its not the fishes fault, but people are guna buy these fish no matter what. but i hate the idea of man dying the parrots. i dont like the parrots anyway but thats horrid.

other than the parrots id keep longer fin fish or shortbodys cuz obv 9 times outta 10 you cant prove its man made so its gunna have to be natuaral. just embrase these fish and give them a gr8 chance at life

Et tu Astronotus ocellatus? Say it isn't so!

I've seen people hold on to fish that were horribly mutilated due to fighting or being housed with Piranha and they keep em out of pure love for their "pet". If those are the cards you and your fish were delt then play em. However, intentionally breeding fish that would'nt make it in the wild is turning back the laws of natural selection. Bulldogs are awesome but they do suffer from respiratory and digestive prooblems due to all of their organs including their teeth being jammed into a very small space. The reason why Parrot fish are so successful is because it works for them. We have yet to see the results of Oscars being shortened. With their ravenous appetites I don't know if they will be able to eat the way they want. Only time will tell. Good luck Monsta!

wow. a short body Oscar. never thought this would happen. .............. I had some Short Bodied convicts for a couple years and thought they were interesting little fish. but an Oscar! ... it never even crossed my mind.

Isn't short body (ism) a natural mutation?

Either way, interesting thread. thanks for sharing.

Cool fish, I have never seen one personaly, just pics.

There's no reason to take the topic to a personal level.
