Interesting posts. I traded in fish for a very good price to him, he has already sold them for for much more than I got in trade and I expected that and even gave them him for that price so that he COULD make money on them
you traded in meaning he was doing you a favour by taking them off your hands and giving them a home. and by paying you he already showed good will. i think you have got your part in the trade in mixed up by trying to make out you were doing him a favour by taking fish YOU no longer wanted and he should have been the grateful customer:screwy: he no doubt gets his fish cheaper from the wholesaler.

I also didn't feel and still don't that it was my responsibility to tell him I was going to drop a fair amount of money to get my way, that would have changed

the whole dynamic and made it purely about money and less about a give and take relationship but obviously none of you feel the same way.

of course it would have changed the dynamics of the meeting. he is a business out to make money, NOT to be your friend who you take unwanted/rejected fish to. it was always purely about money from his perspective. he is a business afterall. he wont be in the game for a bit of "give and take" because he has to make money even after he dropped the price for you. you are being totally unrealistic about the way you think he should be doing business. most would have been happy with a couple of quid knocked off.

I wouldn't let $5 stand between me and something that I wanted. Come on, you spent more than that on gas driving to the store. I hope you didn't stop for lunch! I just don't think that arguing with someone over $5 is the most economical use of your time. If you want to name your own price, you should only shop on aquabid or at a local fish club auction.

Sounds like a greedy Kid to me.
Probably an only child.
Parents probably never say no.
I can imagine him standing in the middle of the LFS with his cheeks puffed out holding his breath and stomping his feet.
:ROFL::ROFL:
If you are an adult, my bad. LOL. Even worse.

just because a fish is marked up three times doesn't mean a profit is made. before a LFS turns a profit it must pay the rent (often several thousand dollars), electricity, insurance, employees, and recoup the cost of food and lost fish.

but it doesn't seem like thats whats bothering you, it seems your mad that the guy wouldn't further drop prices after offering you significant trade (that you couldn't get anywhere else) for your fish.

in the end (as said by others) you burned a bridge. you now ruled out the only guy in 50 miles willing to deal with you over $5.00 and an unreasonable demand.

good luck on aquabid

side question: what fish were you trading in and for how much?

if a fish is not worth 5$ to you you shouldnt buy it.:irked:

Not agreeing with me is fine and even if I don't agree with some of the assessments of my actions, it's not a big deal but to make personal attacks on me for this?
