Should i be worried?

So i have my endli in a tank with kinda light substrate (jbl manado) that somethimes gets stuck on his head while he is burrowing. No issues until he goes to get air and some of the small rocks get suckd between the flaps in his head and they don't close all the way.

And no, a bit of sand isn't going to hurt him. They pump food and other debris through them all the time.

There’s two membrane openings on top of their heads called Spiracles. They inhale and expel air. Is this what you are referring to “flaps”?
