how big is the tank? you might want to split the salt dose up into halfs or thirds and add each dose about an hour apart while watching for any signs of stress.

Tank is 180gal and 25gal sump, plus one canister filter. Total water volyme is ~150gal because i lowerd water level.
I never added salt because of silverdollars and doradidae. Bichir started eating couple days after and weird sound disappeared
