Should i pack fishkeeping in?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Reading between the lines i think youe main problem is that in your own words " some of your fish have been sick/unwell" this can soon dishearten the most stoic of fishkeepers .
I would suggest you do : 1 Don`t get rid of any hardware 2 get rid of any fish that you really are not that bothered about 3 wait for the fish you really want ,i`ve been guilty of buying fish willy nilly and on a whim then before you know it you`re bogged down with animals you care little about ,not good for them or you .

If you feel like you are being worn out by your fish-keeping duties and that the fish are suffering from it, you can either downsize (but keep all your equipment!) or look into possibility of automation.

I went through this stage too just a while back. I cut all my tanks back to 1 tank...Then about a week later I saw something I really liked and setup another tank...then another...then another. Its cool to cut back(most likely it won't stay that way for long though) but don't get out. I was actually planning on getting out all together too. And I am 16 so I can relate. But I am telling you. Go ahead and cut back and leave it for a while but I garuntee that you will see something and set your tanks right back up. Maybe you should just sell your fish and start with something fresh and different.

Chad
Thats what i'm thinking about doing with some of my fish, or just cutting down.

I'm thinking about opion 2, i'm gonna take back some old stock and change the tanks around a bit and do some big water changes, and see how everything looks.

have a change around 1st,take some fish back to the lfs and get some new ones.if your still undecided then, cut down on your tanks.i used to live and breathe my fish and spend a stupid amount on them.now i have a 100 gallon with the fish in my sig and thats it.i enjoy what ive got and with the money ive saved, ive started a new hobby shooting,so i have the best of both worlds :D

hobbies are for your relaxation, and enjoyment. If you're feeling burnt out, and overwhelmed, it's def. time to do an evaluation. But, to cut the hobby altogether seems a bit drastic, and by reading your posts, your def. someone with a lot of experience, knowledge, and heart and it would be a terrible shame to let that go to waste. (Def. surprised me that you're only 15). If I was in your position, I would keep the larges tank you have as the main/ centerpiece, and keep a medium size tank that you have as either a quarantine/hospital, or feeder/fry tank.

Either way, whatever you decide, you got my full support, and best of luck to you.

:) :)

Bogwood, a young guy like you ( and specifically YOU ) is a healthy sign of the hobby's future. Please do not give up. At least not entirely...We've all gone through that, we all come back...

hang in there Kid!!!!

Its beyond me how someone can come on and say to Bruce that i doubt if you have autism....:screwy:

Bruce i think because things ain't running how you would like them to sick/ill health you want to brake your tanks up and start all over again and see if it works the next time don't look at it that way mate.

Bruce what you should do mate is get rid of all the fish you don't really want and just sit on your tanks until you find what you want.

As you know mate im moving soon and I've got to break my tanks down and telboy as kindly said that he will look after as many fish as he can and when you have got 6 tanks and they cant go together so ive got to break some of my tanks down and get rid of some fish

So its not bad fish keeping that is making your fish sick if that's what your thinking, look at mine a couple of months when i lost my 2ft green arow my silver arow i done all water checks and everything was fine.

So stick with it mate.....;) looks like we are all with ya buddie.
