chemical problem is easily sorted- if ever xander needs to medicate the tank, and i doubt he will, the fish can be moved to another setup easily.



hmm. i wouldnt have eaten that pbass though. if i'm gonna eat a fish from an aquarist's tank, i wanna know it's history and i wouldnt ever eat a fish that died on it's own.

anyone got any gar recipes? i'm thinking lemon/black pepper..

Snakeheads are common staple around here - not bad i guess. Grilled or steamed (baked in mud is really good)

Hmmm, big cats (already had before):

- Bagarius bagarius and bagarius yarelli are reallly REALLY nice (steamboat MK style, sweet and sour viet style or in sour soup lao style or tom yum)
- Asian Red Tails are also very nice (similar prep as ARTC)
- Wallagos are excellent deep fried with garlic
- Pangasius gigas is nice as a steamboat side dish hmmmm (pricey though)
- walking catfish is fairly average fair (hydridized one is even worse)

i wouldnt be able to do it especially after having him for a while. especially pimas and gators i like them too much

if you consider getting some tropicals/letting go of that longnose then maybe nah just kidding. i really want to try gar meat. grilled with lemon and blackpepper sounds really good ppl eat gar meat all the time, it just that this time i have been caring for it for a while. i can never imagine eating a cuban, but only because of it's rarity. if it were common and grew larger, i would definately consider some too.

always didnt like catfish meat.
the only nice ones ive tried were the pangasius.

oh dude.
about him. i was holding all my fish in a 100gal outside the house while i was cleaning my pond. someone stole all four of them, including my prize gar of three years, and alex's beautiful big one. only the bichirs were left.
i've given up gar for now, but alex keeps pawning small spotteds off on me
