Jeff Rapps has had some for sale for a long time that are smaller, but they aren't cheap and I'm guessing that's why he has had them so long.

How big did they start? Did you get them from Jeff Rapps?
 
Rapps is the only one that has them right now...i think.

Over the last 5 years, there was only one local guy (Palm Springs) that's sold his 2 on MFK. He purchased his through Jeff and was downsizing. He had maybe 4 previously that died. He sold his 2 out of 3 to another local person(s) in South Cali. I missed that opportunity because I couldn't get off of work.

You're best bet is to get in on a group buy from Jeff.

Palm Springs would be good lol. Too bad that’s no longer an option!
 
I was told the collection of this species is strictly regulated and only specimens over 10" can be exported. Not sure how true this is.
I paid £280 UK for mine but I've since seen them for £180 at 10". Great pleco. Mine didn't feed for 2 months when I got him, that I could see at least.
Maybe that's why they die? Eats anything now.
One of my favourite fish for sure.

I used to never mind paying shipping for the right fish but lately i just dont want to waste the money.
I saw one on another site but hes out of canada so dealing with customs is not something i want to deal with

I’ve never had to order fish online so I’ve never payed for shipping. I could understand $25-50, but $90 for shipping and $10 for packing is out of my budget.
