For the K1 chamber all it would need is for the chamber to be half filled or enough so that the media can move about freely, the more the better as you will know and the K1 to stay in there as it floats all over the place when new, it does become less bouyant in time, maybe a few days, i added a sponge that you can just see on exit side of the chamber to keep it in from being sucked under into the heater chamber.
A good power head or big air stone would do the trick, when i did try it with a power head though i noticed that the K1 easly got sucked to the power head intake gauze/fiter.
maybe if you ise those pipe airstones or wooden , might work . gotta try it but good idea
