Don't call yourself a "meat hunter", it sounds too negative. There is no problem keeping fish as long as you're within the regulations. I see you are on Lake Superior.... if I fished that lake I would keep some for the table as well. I am all Lake Ontario, and well...... best thing to do here is catch and release lol....

Burt :)

it is what it is...i'd take a button buck over that 27 point buck any day...ya with the big buck you get a rack, but with the button buck you get steakums:drool:...it is right next to the MN DNR headquarters so i am sure i do everything to the book...i know of a few lakes like that...i caught a 6 legged frog at one...fun to fish, but i plan to have some more normal kids later...

lol i never posted my steelhead pic on this thread, Caught on my bass rod with a olso spinner.

anyone catch any golden trout? I did 2 years ago 14in if I remember correctly...gotta find the pic...anyone have any golden pics?

They're pretty much only found in California and Wyoming at high elevations. At one point they were stocked in Colorado, but I don't think they exist here anymore. The reason I brought this up is that I have seen lot of people think they have caught a golden trout, but its often a mis-identified rainbow or cutthroat. Post pics if you got them!

this is not mine...but what mine looked like!
what a pretty fish huh!?!?!

That is a PALOMINO trout, basically a color variant of a rainbow. Yes, it is "golden" colored, but it is not a golden trout.

Here are some real golden trout for examples:
Note: they are not my photos.
