i could look at these photo's all day and dream about what i want in and to do to my future tanks ! oh this hobby rocks
Good luck, I hope you find some Longears.....we have the same problem that you do, most of our ponds and lakes have either Greens or Bluegill in them (except the Boothill) In my favorite creek that runs into the James river its getting harder to find Longears due to Greens invading and hybridizing in the Creek.Creek_stomper;4905592;4905592 said:Probably catch them locally, as long as the laws allow such an activity, which I believe they do. This depends on how lucky I get, as there are a lot of hybrids and many of the local ponds (all man-made) are overrun by greens. However, I know for a fact that there have been pure longears caught out of the Boneyard, which is a tributary of the upper saline branch of the Salt Fork River, which in turn is part of the Vermilion and Wabash river systems in Illinois. I'll probably be catching my specimens on the engineering quad of the University of Illinois
If that doesn't work, I'll be buying from Mr. Zimmerman if he has stock available. I'd like to avoid this, as keeping true locals would be ideal, and I'm not sure he's got longears from my area.
