Yes I think I will take a knife because I cannot afford to live feed with fish.
I am keeping a strictly African tank so red eyes are a no no (also not found locally)
I might not keep a leopard fish so no one gets eaten whatsoever (kribensis fry especially)
 
The African red eye tetra (Arnoldichthys spiloterus) is African. Maybe you thought lamp eye tetra? Anyway yes they are a bit harder to get a hold of than a Congo tetra.
