Justin, I would look at purchasing a type of kit that you will be able to read (not meant as an insult, just a suggestion) otherwise, what's the point? Especially if you're going to be keeping more aros, they need incredible water quality and without being able to properly test (and read the results) how can you be sure that your water is where it needs to be? Just a suggestion, take it as you may.

:iagree: totally! ...this is probably the best advice given to you so far...;)

Well my girlfriend told me the PH is fine, its kinda hard to tell what colors are what when you are colorblind, I cant see most reds or oranges, so I would like it if you dont speak to me like that when you dont know what your talking about.

i do know what i'm talking about...

FACTS:
1) you're colorblind.
2) you can't read your test.
3) NOT being able to read your test is the same thing as not having one..(your just guessing the parameters).

so i would like it if "YOU" don't speak to "ME" like that through your "PM's"...if you have something to say ...say it here.

thanks..and Good Luck with your Aro!

Damn, well my water quality was tip top so I dont understand why he died, like I said I think it was due to the eel.
And I usually just have my girlfriend read the test kit, I just bought a new ph test kit, which tests the water as light blue green, to dark blue. so I wont have any problems with ph anymore.

Just speaking from experience sometimes they just die. It could be anything and as long as you gave it good water conditions I would beat yourself up about it. Just buy another one!!!

Yea, there is a gold and black one, I havent seen it, but its on the order list at this fish store for 30 bucks but its only 3" I think i might get it.

gold and black one? ...like this --->:babyblack ? ...if so thats a steal.

...if its just a regular silver than you should just wait and get a larger one than you had before...maybe 6"+ would be ok

when does the shipment come in?

that sound like a baby black aro, they are extremely difficult to keep alive at that age

true! ...but, for that price you can't go wrong...i'd take the challenge in a heart beat ;)..

Smaller aros do good in 84 degree temp. I do recommend current to strengthen your aro but only if he is eating well(bulk up stages). The problem might have been when the eel got into the filter. You are running a ugf right? Probably kicked up a lot of waste stuck in the gravel and under the plate. This is extremely bad for your fish to be breathing in. Smaller aros are always a little harder to keep so dont get bummed.

Ohh noo noo, I have a little HOB rated for 20 gallons on the tank lol, and it got caught in that filter, And no I missed out on the aro the shipment arrived yesterday and they didnt order it.

Yup he died, yea maybe that eel that ended up in the filter gave some bad disease or something, that LFS had some bad looking water. My filtration is fine, I do a lot of water changes. And my PH is always low.

What I suggest is...

Remove all fish from inside
Clean out your filters (Flush media and change wool)
Drain tank (Scrub it clean)

Reset the while system again. This will help straighten the whole thing up again.

It work well in some cases for there're always tanks which keep having problems even thought you have solved one but another just creep up again.
