wow, those aros are in horrible shape. I would sell or rehome them and try again when you have a adequate tank suitable for a arowana.

......I'm not a noob at keeping arowanas....As for tank space I think it is adequete but I will be moving them in the 180 today. Thanks for all the comments and they are all eating and doing very well. They don't seem to be in that bad of shape but yes I know they are a little beat up.

I never intended to keep all 9. I will be keeping the best 2 or 3 out of the group.

those aros look even worse than the ones we get at our lfs sometimes. and so many fishes in a 55 gallon cant be adequate space. you might not be a noob at keeping aros (according to you) then why are you acting like one.

:( how sad poor little guys.
Even keeping 2 or 3 in a 180 is no good not even 1 .Very beat up arrows looks like there been put in the washer on full cycle

A 180 is no good for one 7" silver aro? GMFB:nilly:

Moving them to the 180g should help, your going to need to reduce the stress to get them back to health though.

Thats your opinion depending on the foot print iam guessing 6x2x2 in 6 month a well feed 7inch silver is gunna double in size if not more anyway go for it i dont give a toss its his fish sorry i spoke

I agree with your decision to immediately move these fish into your larger tank. Screening the filter intakes should have been you first course of action when Aro #10 got sucked in and I hope you corrected this problem.

But it is very apparent your Aros are stressed. They exhibit very labored respirations and the raggedy fins are due to the close quarters they're sharing.

After a bit of healing time I think you can take them down to the LFS and make some good trades or sell them, good luck with either. Hopefully the problem they have now will resolve.

I do notice that your scavenger population in the 55 is only two 3 inch Clown Loaches. I would say this is hardly sufficient. Arowanas are notorious as sloppy eaters and I think you would be better served having at least 1 or 2 Corys/Loaches (Clowns are going to get real big remember) per 10 gallons to clean up the detritus.

So in 6 months a 14" silver is too big to be in a 6x2x2' tank?:duh: Just trying to understand your method of thinking. Eventually, yes a silver will/should out grow a 180g. But to say a 7" silver is too big to go in a 180g tank is:screwy:

wow.. i'm sorry.. but when u mentioned that you had 9 7" arowana in a 55 gallon.. that already tells me that your not suited to keep arowana....

u can keep 9 of them when they are babies.. but NOT when they are at 7" dude.. give them out now.. ur arowana are stressed and underfeed.. u need to start getting ur 180 gallon and and MAYBE put 2 silver arowana.... for 6months to 1 year...

Also.. i think u should have kept the best out of your 9 like 4-5 months ahead of time.... at 7" they are quite big already and will continue to get bigger....

i'm sorry.. but u sound like a u don't have much experience in keeping arowana..
