Silver Arowana has busted lip. Surgery needed?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
bad injury,hoep it rescovers.

For the hole: I broke my lip open a few years ago (teeth went all the way through bottom lip and left some awesome gaping holes) and instead of stitches they used dermabond on me-it is a type of skin glue. I would suggest using it. It held up in water as it was inside of my mouth as well
For the rest of the mouth: Do lots of water changes, put in hospital tank, add pimafix, melafix, salt, and boost the temperature to 85-86.

Wow, didn't notice they brought up a year old thread >.<

dude.... that looks traumatic... im glad you managed to operate on him... looks alot better. Good luck, I would like koji said... increase the oxygen flow in the tank and add some anti-bacterial medication also.

GOOD LUCK...

Update to how my Arowana did. It did great. Healed up and was able to eat properly again. A few months later though he busted it up again, but this time the whole bottom jaw fell off, and he was not able to eat. So I had to euthanize him, due to he would have starved to death. Sad situation. I don't think I'll ever get another Silver Arowana, unless the setup would stop from damaging it'self when it jumped. Even a 180 wasn't big enough, because they like to jump and when they get big man they have a lot of power to do some damage.

 holy crap! sry to hear that man.

As I read through this post from a year and a half ago I was thinking "how in the hell did the fish manage to get that kind of damage? I bet hes fine now becuase you took such care to do what you thought was the right."

I'm sry to hear the sad ending.

yes when is someone going to come up with an inside the tank top soft cushion area so this won't happen..still waiting...sorry you lost him in the end...
