Hey guys, new to this site! I recently purchased a tank thats 250cm long, 70cm footprint and 60 cm high.
I am curious if this is big enough to host 1 silver arowana, the tank is going to be mainly bichirs, but if this size is good i will also host 1 silver arowana. I have been reading alot, but there is so many different answers. If i can't host an adult silver arowana, how long will it be until it's to big for the tank :)? It's very important for me that the fish is going to be happy in the tank :)

That works out to 8 x 21/4 x 2. That is close to the minimum. Some would say it's fine, but long term, a lot of people prefer 8x3x3 as a minimum. (I don't have a clue how many of each. Some people think smaller tanks are acceptable as well.)

I think the length is a good number and the width could be almost okay, based on what people have experienced keeping an adult silver.

That's quite good to start, many say same size for silvers and jardini because the S are more flexible than Js.

It could work, I'd be worried with a jardini and agrression due to their reputation. Who knows

Thank you! If it's that much on the edge, i might aswell drop it :)

I see, well the fish store im buying it from has a 8000 gallon aquarium in their store that could take the arowana possibly if it gets too big, i don't know how many years the aro could be kept in the tank i bought, if its many years like 3-4 i would have time to buy a bigger tank.

Welcome aboard☺

Never depend on the lfs to take or buy back a large fish like Arowana.

Yeah that's true, would be cruel otherwise. If i buy a baby arowana, how long do you think ish i would have before its too big? If its some years, i would have enough time to get a bigger tank.

Remember, aros grow incredibly fast...like reaching 20+ inches by 1 year old.
Probably just gonna steer away from aros for now then. Atleast my bichirs will have a decent home! :) Any cool fish that i can have with bichir that gets a decent size that will fit in the dimiensions for life in the aquarium i purchased =)?
