Is it a green terror or a silver saum? I would say it looks to be a silver saum.

Anyone have any opinions?

AND gold saum

It's a green terror and a silver saum. That's the issue with common names.

While this is true I have come to the conclusion that there are subtle differences between the saums and a true green terror:

Green Terror - Shiny scales with a dark border, top fin has silver tip
Silver Saum - Dark scales with a shiny border, top fin has silver tip
Gold Saum - Dark scales with a shiny border, top fin has a red tip
Blue Acara - Looks similar to the 3 above but does't match the descriptions for the 3 above.

Going by the descriptions, I think the picture is a silver saum. If it was true green terror the scales would be shiny with dark border, not the other way around.

I agree with you man. They are all commonly referred to as green terrors. The truth is that there are very few "true" green terrors in the hobby. Most are saums. Rapps and a few other reputable breeders get true GT's in, but like I said, they are rare.

Yea it gets confusing but also when sources that are supposed to be reputable display the wrong info it just compounds things.

I wasn't saying it was a "true" green terror. Several different species are called "green terrors". So yes, this fish can be called a green terror. If we want to be a bit more specific we can call it a silver saum.

a silver saum IS a "true Green Terror"

If you look at the when some of the articles were written they're outdated and the fish have been redescribed since.

Any links to what you are talking about? I will post the one I am going by later on when I get home from work.
