single cichlid 55

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
It took a while for my 10"+ escondido to become outgoing.

A pair of salvinis as someone has suggested sounds like a good idea

Nicaraguense, grammodes,Rhytismas, panamensis all colorful & except the grammode are not overly violent so can have/be peaceful tankmates(in terms of cichlids)

ok... i went with 2 gold severums 3 festivums and a lace cat.I think its time to start showing pics soon.

Carpintis or istlanum!

Damn straight! Wait for an istlanum. You won't be sorry. There are some folks in the hobby trying to get some paired-up right now. Istlanum are the most interactive and the least shy of any I have seen mentioned. They fit the bill for size and rarity too.

I cant wait until they come in i have a tank waiting just for them.:headbang2

if your looking for something really interesting and beautiful go with an electric blue jack dempsey. if you do end up going with jacks or oscars or midas, make sure you dont get more than one because they grow full size far quicker than a 55g can facilitate. youd be gravel vaccumming every other day =)

good luck man

Female Festae is my vote

55g could work for a couple of subadult Chocolate cichlid (really mild so u dont have to create hides for the female) or instead a couple of Salvini.

Carpintis are great cichlids but a couple don't work in a little tank cuz the male will kill the female for sure (unless u raise temperature with the intent that female is alway ready to breed)
