Single cichlid or pair for 55

I'm looking to get either a nice large single cichlid for my 55 gal or a pair.
I was currently thinking jd or gt as they are large and have nice colors. Not sure if this is possible though. Aswell has I don't really know a ton of the different cichlid species.

JDs is a good choice they start to breed early and they do it often

Yeah it can. So can JD. So can Syn (depending on the actual dimensions of your tank). Salvini can work as well.

Tank is aprox 4ftx2ftx1ft. It's got 2 aqua clear filters good for up to 100 gals each but I currently only use 1.

that is a perfect size only thing that worry's me about people using standard 55 for life is the width but if its 2ft that's perfect more than needed which is always great oh and use both 110's
