If it's real skeleton wouldn't the bones dissolve in most tanks fouling up your water chemistry. The concept would be really cool just not sure how safe it is for the fish. Medical research cadavers go through some pretty funky treatments prior to being stripped and turned into a skeleton. They can leach into the tank, formaldehyde and multiple flesh liquefying chemical under heat depending on the age of the skeleton new ones use enzymes which are safer. However I'm looking at getting a plastic one for my new 265 as the idea sounds really cool.

As far as the ethics personally I doubt they care if they know and if it were me I'd be stoked purple about laying peacefully surrounded by fish.

Those are some good points. I suppose you could soak them for a few weeks to let any chemicals dissipate. Calcium leaching and effecting parameters probably depends on the volume of water. I'm not too worried about that. As far as how long bones last in water, I have no idea.

If that is what your into fine, I myself like a huge peice of branch-like driftwood.

Oh, it would definitely look good. Its not like it would be a bare bottom with just that sitting there. Its a heavily planted (plastic plants) tank with a mix of sand and gravel with large rock structures. With the skeleton partially buried in the midst of a bunch of fine water plants, I think the effect would be neat.

There is a lot of driftwood also. Its a 2000 gallon, so a skeleton would just be small accouterment, not a dominating decoration.

our college uses a resin skeleton with metal hinges holding it together. i doubt its a real skeleton-and the resin ones do have the skull cut open so you can see the structure inside the skull cavity.

if its a real human skeleton-(which i doubt) i think its just disrespectful. if someone donated their body to science, i doubt their idea was to spend eternity in a fishtank to be gawked at. really spooky. besides, it would leach phosphates and calcium-adipose, and red blood cells and chemicals into the water-i think it would kill the fish eventually...

It's probably resin. My college's painting studio has a resin one. I think it would look awesome!!! It would be hilarious in a guppy tank, a huge one.
