if the snake was being attacked by the mouse wouldnt it bite and strike the mouse but i agree i hate live food dead food is better i wish all my animals were on nonlive
Unfornatly thats not often how snakes react, ball pythons are shy reclusive snakes, she would simply coil up around her head in hope the mice wouldnt reach her vital organs. On the other hand she may not be able to do that if she wasnt warm enough, in that case she wouldnt even be capable of reacting. FAIL in keeping.

I suspect the owner of that BP just dropped the live mouse/rat in and walked away.

That's probably what happened. The owner dropped the mouse/rat in the tank and came back hours later.

I hate the idea of feeding live things. I had someone tell me that its "what happens in nature and is natural". Yea, just about as natural as a snake living in a 20 gallon long...

I agree.. people say "that's how it is in nature!!" but in nature, ball pythons eat soft furred rats.. not mice. And the prey is not in a container, they can run away.

I'm not saying feeding live is wrong IF your snake won't eat frozen, but I wouldn't do it just because I think it's cool or somethign like that.

this is what killed my brothers massive red tail boa. Rosy was such a nice snake too

Nah, a ball python would kill it's prey before swallowing. The mouse probably freaked out and just ripped the snake to shreds.

Dang, looks like a fish that got fillet. That's why frozen mice are superior. Poor snake... I'd imagine it sucuumbed to a secondary infection?
