Snake attacked by mouse, very graphic (NOT MINE)

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
At least he did something decent for it....

It was actually a rescue, someone at work said that it was hurt and they couldn't care for it, so the guy took it in..

He couldn't afford vet bills (surgery for a snake is EXPENSIVE) so he euthanized it.

How does one euthanize a snake?

Best way is to take it to a vet to be euthanized, harmless and not to hard on the wallet. They gas them and then inject, pretty much painless. Otherwise your best bet would be a rock or gunshot to the head.

This thread should be stickied. It's a great PSA to the Snake keeping community, and to everyone who thinks giving Snakes that don't need live mice is "cool".

The snake was not attacked by the
mouse, it was gnawed. Big difference. I'm shocked people still leave mice in with snakes for long periods of time; long enough to chew up a snake. This is one of the first things you learn about snake keeping- never leave a live rat or mouse in with a snake. Duh. An "attack" would have yielded smaller more random bites. That snake was chewed. I bet the mouse was left with the snake overnight.
