best thing is to show your good upkeep and your not board with what you already have. Not sure on your age but dont get something big if you plan on going away to school or other such big trips all the time.Think long term.Good luck, dont know your parents so cant really help too much.

a 4x2x2 for a male bci would probly be alright. as for convincing parents, i dont know i dont live with any lol
supose i would just get the viv and say its for a beardies or somethin then a few days later just come home with a boa and not say nothin lol

sayin that i did have to convince the girlfriend tho. she hates snakes but she actually likes my boa, she thinks the snakes pretty nice aswell...haha jk jk srry

no she is quite fond of 'Dutchess' now, when they get over their initial fear their ok...lol

they arnt recommended beginner snakes, and they dont get anywhere near as big as an average red tail boa but they do get thick and heavy
What is for begginers and what is not is a great deal of discusion. Some guys are so inresponsable and whit such a lack of comon sence that they arent even capable of keeping near bulet proof species like bearded dragons or adult sliders sucessfully:screwy:. On the other hand there are guys that are begginers but that are so knowlege of what their doing from doing such amout of reserch that they sucssed in keeping and breeding non easy herps like dart frogs and chamelions:D I know that because Ive seen both first hand (unfornatly most of the first case:(:screwy:) So if this guys wants a blood python, has the condicions to have one and is able to find captive breds , this doesant seems such a bad choice comparing to red tail boas. They both require more or less the same amouth of care and give the owner the oportunity to have a big snake without the hazzards of having one of the big pythons, say burmese ,retics, etc;)

this summer i might work at the vet that has lots of herps a the vet may give me tips on care and parents, but im still open to ideas

Check out some of the prefab cages like boaphile plastics, they're pretty reasonably priced and easier to keep clean than a wood cage.

Ditto...start adding up the cost of getting an appropriately-sized glass tank, getting it fitted with a secure screen top and heating it adequately...thos boaphiles don't look bad at all.

that is fair enough i suppose.
i said they arnt beginner snakes coz ive handled a few and known a few people with them and they can be a bit snappy, the info in that link also backs that up. thats the only reason tho

the brazilian rainbow boa is an amazing snake and only gets about 6ft, BUT they arnt the best at being handled most never seem to take to it, so if you want a hands on snake then its probly not for you. brb's are really just show snakes. im gonna get one and see if i can tame it but if not i dont mind coz they look amazing
for a starter boa you really cant go wrong with a bci
i agree. there beautiful snakes but dont like to be handled
