Snowing in the summer xingu snow leopards

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Haha thanks everyone.

these rays have been a bit of an obsession/ passion for almost 2 years now so it is neat to finally see them in person and learn about them. Hopefully can de mystify some of it through personal experience.

those otorongo’s of yours are pretty mint as well. I had a pair of them, along with some other rays disappear on me. We had a full box of rays and no one found them in the end. So at some airport between here and Peru there is a nasty box of rays rotting in bags:barf:

cant wait to see your updates on the new set up/ talk about jealousy lol.
Whoa, that's awful. Sorry to hear that! I gotta finish that thread! Been really busy since the weather got nicer here in ny. Probably just gonna do a video link when I can.

A goal of mine for sure !!
Thank you Jim. Hopefully I can get intercontinental shipping sorted out in the new few years when they are ready to start breeding lol.

this little guy seems to stay small, so I I separated him with the females and added an extra rotation on the auto feeder in this pond. Perhaps he will be a mini snow :ROFL:I think a big part of that is because he is such a picky eater. For almost 10 months he ate nothing but mysis and bloodworms. Now he only eats pellets and still not quite taking any of the frozen foods offered.

the female however is on a steady growth rate. She seems to be bigger every day. She is already much bigger than the binos which are a year older. She eats anything I offer and has done that since birth apparently.

So the snows are doing ok.

the female is great, she eats like a champ always cruising around and fluttering up the sides and across the top of the water, very active girl. Growing fast and is now my biggest current ray.

the males however lol. It doesn’t look like they have grown much since I have started this thread. They are eating and cruising around. The small male was in with the girls to help get him caught up but he started bugging my female bino. I assume this means she is almost ready to breed so she must be giving off that scent or something. She has retaliated against him leaving him with bite marks on his disc. In the other tank with the other two boys, funny enough the bino male is biting the other snow male. So now both snow males are chewed up. Horny teenagers I guess ??

Looking awesome man! About 9" disk now? I can't believe how similar they look to a pair of my castexis that were born about a year and a half ago. Sure would be nice if they get the white spotting like your leopards will. 20210915_095945.jpg

Yes very similar looking. It will be neat to see them as they develop over the years.
Yours will get beautiful white spots, I have no idea what to expect from these 2 lol. Haven't had another litter w similar patterns since. Lol. But they had no signs of the spots at birth so... ? love to see your stunning rays develop bro. Keep the updates coming!
