So confused. Why is it so wrong to visit a fish warehouse?

I stopped at a fish place and there were two guys seated the front desk. I saw a warehouse full of saltwater fish behind them and asked if I could have a look. They were extremely taken aback, as if I'd asked permission to take my pants off. I quickly assured them (blindly offering hope) that I was just a hobbyist with no tricks to pull. I just wanted to see the specimens at hand. At that, they were relieved a bit and let me wander, though still watching me. As I left, I received a polite but stiff goodbye. The kind of goodbye that says, "Nothing personal, but please don't come in here again!"
So what is the mystery here? Are they afraid of people poisoning their fish? Discussing filtration methods? Afraid the customer will be let down by the lack of bells and whistles? I just don't get the secrecy yet. Please tell me, if you are a fish dealer, why customers aren't allowed into your fish holding area.

I wasnt even aloud in at the warehouse I went to

my lfs let me check it out. if i were you i would of given them the bird and say have a nice day!
