So confused. Why is it so wrong to visit a fish warehouse?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
That is weird. Maybe they think if people see how the fish are kept word would get out and no one would buy from them? Was it a nice place?

Yeah maybe they have fish they should not have. Or maybe no one ever comes and thought you were a weirdo, or some kind of inspector, or a spy from another fish place. Or the guys were just jerks.

They don't want hobbyists to see the prices of the fish that they sell to lfs...
I don't know why though...

thats probably it, at work I'm not allowed to show customers the wholesale list because of how low some of the prices are

Most of the time they won't let you see what they have is because of bio security. If they just let everyone back there who was a "hobbyist" one day a whole bunch of fish are going to suddenly be dead.

I go to a lot of koi farms and hand pick my stock, but I am always given a pat down, and everything is thoroughly sterilized so that there is no cross contamination.

There are MANY many places that will escort you out if even one finger touches the water.

Has nothing to do with prices trust me. They could care less if they lose a customer, they are still bringing in money without you.

That probably IS the reason! It's weird though.
I see the pricing list all the time at my LFS. There should be no shame in making a profit. I know they are paying less than 1/3 of what customers pay, if not less for the bread and butter stuff. Business is business, right?
