The Spaghetti Eel is a very small, thin eel that originates from the reefs of the Indian Ocean. Only attaining a maximum length of 16 inches, these eels do well in the smaller aquarium. Their body is a light brown to purple in color, and they have a very small head.

A saltwater aquarium of at least 30-gallons with plenty of live rock for hiding is ideal. These eels can fit through very small openings, so a tight fitting canopy is a must. All intakes to pumps and powerheads should also be covered in either netting material, or sponge to keep these eels from being injured. Do not house these eels with larger more aggressive eels, as they can become an easy meal.

The Spaghetti Eel's diet consists of meaty foods and live foods such as freshwater ghost shrimp or small feeder fish. Live foods may be needed at first to persuade them to feed, but in time should accept any of the fresh or frozen meaty foods.

SW spaghetti eels and PURPLE spaghetti eels are different species, above is the Moringua microchir, a SW species.
The purple is the Moringua raitaborua, a very thin and flexible eel that gets 16-17" long. given some structure such as branching sticks and rock piles it will do well in a tank as small as it's own length. They are FW to moderate brackish, mine was in a 12g with a couple mollies @ 1 teaspoon aquarium salt per gallon and never had a problem, it got a few very small guppies but mainly earthworms and brineshrimp.
Frank's Aquarium occasionally sells them.

ha, way to think you know more than guppy. ;)

um, i think 10 gals are nice on like, a tabletop beside a couch or something, just something to watch when your show is in the middle of a commercial. i'd do a decently well planted tank, and some simple small colorful tetras and such. something easy and pretty that gets compliments?

i like both the skelton tank idea and the eel idea, but is there a more easily accessable eel that could live in a 10 gallon possibly alone?

There are a couple of other small freshwater eels but they are just not findable.

As suggested by Guiness mated pair of dwarf red eyed puffers would be sweet, as would thatonegirl's suggestion of a little colony of shelldwellers,

about how many neons could i cram in tis tank??? it might be ccol to have like 5 hatchets, 3 panda corys and as many black neons as possible.

so how would 6 black neons, 4 or 5 hatchets, and 3 corys do?,

mind you the filter is a 30 gallon filter and the dimensions of the tank are 20"x 10" x11"
