So my first planted tank slowly begins

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Great looking wood , with that wood it will look great with very tall plants speading up , around the wood with alot of small grassy type plants covering the whole fall of the tank ( just IMO ) . :D

so rule of thumb is 1in per gal. so if i get around 25 (guppies, tetras, cory, oto, balloon ram, shrimp) i should be ok? lol

IMO thats a rubbish rule ! and persinally would ask people here on whats the best amount of fish to get and what fish would work best together,.

Theres a Thread on MFK about the 1inch per Gal' rule and in that Thread it tell you in detail why its bad .

Fish i would think about is Something along the lines of ~

10 Cory's
15 Cardinal Tetra
15 Rummynose Tetra
10 Gold Harlequin Rasbora
10 Hatchet Fish
03 Clown Pleco

But its really up to you on what fish you stock the tank with , but if you are unsure what fish are ok with each other or how many to get please post up here your questions .

and then maybe after a couple of months of these fish been in the tank have a look if you think there is space for more , ( i persinally would say yes , aslong as the filtertion is right ) .

so i did a gallon calculator i found on google and it turns out my tank is only a 40 gal. measurements are 36x15x18

Just to let you know if you have a look up top of this site you will also see a Conversions link .

i got my tank up and running. this is how it looks. im running 2x55w light and a jebo828 canister filter. no plants or fish in it yet. im going to get my friends balloon rams and cory's to cycle.

no plants yet. i still need to cycle the water and do another water change cause i wanna plant the plants when there isnt any water.

what is the best way to get the cloudiness out of the water? i had that problem on my 10 gal when i first let the water sit and it disappeared. so should i just do that with this also?
