Not sure if i agree with the stress zime thing but ive done that as well wih no problems, but...i never added more than a couple of small fish, and i have well water which is pretty good to start with. Im sure if you had some sort of bio to start off like a filter pad or substrate out of a running tank it would help. But im just me and can never wait forever, and probably ive just been lucky.

I agree that he could use stree zyme to "help" with the cycle but NO product will cycle your tank. The process can be sped up to some degree. But I guarantee that the tank will go threw a cycle. The tests will prove that. For me the quickest way to cycle your tank is to seed it from another tank. You will still have a cycle but it will be much quicker. Just keep an eye on your tests and you should be fine. Add fish slowly as to put to much on the bioload.

Seeding is a great way to get a jump on colonizing Beneficial bacteria, however without Bioload the cycle cannot become complete...So by adding fish slowly, you are still going to have little mini cycles as the bacteria builds to match the bioload...

By seeding, AND using the fishless method, you can add a full compliment of fish when the cycle is complete...In effect this being the quickest, safest method to cycle your tank...

But of course for those impatient types who won't listen to facts because they can manifest what everybody else can not, this is the long way around...

That sounds more right to me. Would using more stress zyme than needed cycle your tank in a day or 2? I've never lost fish both fresh and salt while cycling a tank and i've always used stress zyme.

 no more stress zyme will NOT in anyway cycle your tank in a day or two. Go ahead and use what ever products you want but unless you get some used and already cycled filter media in you filter it will take atleast 2 weeks to get the tank properly ready using an ammonia source

I would recommend researching what is involved in the whole cycling process from 3-4 different sources that way you can get an understanding of this entire chemical process. It doesn't appear you truly understand the process.

Last time I checked you cannot "Speed Up" the cycling process in a day or two by using stuff from a bottle.

Also stating never losing a fish does not mean your tank has completed cycling process, it just means your fish were hardy or health enough to survive. Just because something is alive does not mean it has not been affected negatively by it's environment.

I have managed to avoid having to ever cycle a tank. My mom already had a 29 set up when I got my first tank, so I borrowed some media from it. :)

Since then, I've just used established media in new tanks.

Stress Zyme is garbage. You'll have better luck cycling a tank with prayers.
