So who still uses New Life Spectrum?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
If you're going by Growth Rate, then by far the best results I have ever gotten was out of, believe it or not, Tetra Cichlid mini-granulas or something like that, lol. Fed it to the first jag I ever had and it literally grew like a weed from 1" to 5+" in little more than 3 months. Its colors were also very nice.

NLS has given me what I think of as just average results, plus the growth formula is far too small past the first month of the fish's life. Their pellets are just too small, my fish start to ignore them. Their colors aren't that great, though once I started feeding Hikari Bio-Gold+ the colors have intensified more than they did when the fish were on NLS alone.

Yes!! That's what I've fed a lot of to my 2 Elec Blue Dempsey fry, my 6 Geo fry and my Texas fry. They've all grown like crazy! They love it so much is why I kept feeding it to them. I don't know what it is about that stuff but they go bonkers over it and grow super fast.

Yeah, I'm starting to wonder whether the extra bucks are worth it to get NLS instead of the "cheap/low grade" stuff like Tetra foods. Cause, tbh, I've seen better results with the Tetra mini cichlid granulas than I have with NLS growth despite all of the "Natural" ingrediants. :nilly:

I swear by New Life Spectrum, it is the least messy IMO, and it gives my fish the best health possible.
I've also seen colours on a lot of my juvie fish, that I haven't experience on other foods.
The size is always right, my large Cichlids get the Arowana pellets, the 2nd largest size available, the medium fish get 3.5mm sinking pellets, and baby fish get the 1mm sinking pellets.

I didn't have faith in NLS, it was all Hikari before, but it just yields better results 99% of the time.

Will never go back to any other food again.

WOW. Okay, NLS is still kicking butt out there then. I use so many different foods I can't say which one is the best.

the only fish that eats NLS in my tanks are the clown loaches.
even the bichirs refuse it! they took the Dainichi and Xtreeme on the first try. have to agree with FoF and Twisted Penguin on Tetra's Color Bits.

NLS has been my preferred fish food for many years and I regularly give their competition a chance…

My messy eaters spit out a lot less NLS than they do Hikari… I take that to mean something…

I tried Ken’s Food (kensfish.com) recently and although I cannot claim it to be a bad experience, I’m not quite as happy with the results as I am with NLS, although Ken’s stuff is a good bit cheaper… I would consider Ken’s better than Hikari, but not as good as NLS…

Upon recommendation of Ken Davis (FishFarmUSA) I will be trying Xtreme Cichlid Pellets next. After hearing his review I have high hopes for this food…

I use NLS Thera and all my fish do very well with it. I've also branched out and have started buying some of the other floating and sinking pellets. I think its some of the best food on the market in my opinion.
I use the thera for all my fish i just sweitch the pellet size as they grow. i also use the cichlid formula w/ my africans. mike dunagan and pharoh offer 5lb @ under $55 with shipping.;) support our mfkers;) i love the stuff and my fish go nuts for it. everyone except my jag who refuses to touch it.:irked: im gonna starve him though. hikari is 2nd on my list but thats what my oscars and severums were raised with until i switched.

Darth~

I use NLS, for the Geos, Gymno's and the Izzy GO's. For the larger guys I use Bio-Gold, and Dianchi. The Dianchi does not really do as much for the colors as was said, (But my Garmmodes Loves it) so I have been working my way back to Bio-Gold and Frozen (Krill, BloodWorms, Mysis, and of course Brine). End Game the NLS is for the little fellas.

That's my .02

Nuthman~

:D
