Nevermind; I think it's more likely Amyda cartilaginea, the Asian softshell.

Oooooh possibly... possibly... Didn't think of that one. I'm not sure how avaliable they are though, but theyre probably hella expensive.

I'm thinkin' Chinese softshell too. But Nile is still possible.

Thats the other Indian one I was thinking of! Nice call! Yeah I think its probably that.

not a nile. The spots and body structurre is wrong..

Wait, any idea what kind of softshells live in Japan?

i'll google the names you guys posted

There are none in Japan.

Yeah I googled niles, youre right. Niles are kinda chunkier and a lot darker without the speckles.

I think you got an Asian or a Chinese.

But dude, get a spiny. :)

So are all the softshells in Japan released captives?

really? what's so good about this spiny? any pictures, and personality info.

You said the guy with the turtle had it as a pet. I wasnt aware of any softies in Japan, introduced or otherwise. A google search gave me nothing.

Dude, weve told you the benefits of spinies over and over again...

I want to know more!
