No, i love and support the pet trade, and i dont appreciate being insulted. I just get tired of seeing animals going to bad homes. If you have another solution to that problem, please share

Animals will go to bad homes no matter what the government says. Making sure someone will take good care of an animal should be the seller's job, not the government's.

Good debate, just let me us remember that there are no absolutely right answers here - but rather personal opinions in accordance to one's value system and observations of the past that may or may not be applicable in another locale.

I do agree that no permit is the most ideal case for the responsible keepers, because it eliminates the possibility of equipping your local policy makers the power to alter the rules as they wish. This is no doubt a disfigurement to one's personal freedom, but I am concerned for the lack of regulatory functions that opens up possibilities, yes I reiterate.

I cringe as I take the stance of preaching on behalf of the 'reptile community', more like a massive smear campaign IMO aka BOI, but the ones who screw up can and will likely cost you that freedom that you sought after due to the nature of issue-attention agenda cycles in policy drafting. Despite the initial restriction (even with the possibility of becoming more so), a written 'rule' can indeed alter the way some people can operate - even in the case of buying that Monocled Cobra as a first snake or something much less caustic until they are ready. Of course, some people will continue to jaywalk no matter what.

Here's some food for thought - the positives and negatives of New York States' permit system according to at least one user:

Exactly.

New York hasn't reliably issued those permits on a regular basis recently. Some people are finding it impossible to get their permit for a monitor let alone a venomous snake. These permit systems start out at least half-decent in most cases, but they have a tendency to go downhill in due time.

Okay now I'm really curious. Other than A. s. what goodies are you two expecting? B. g.? B. n.?

Neither of those. This one is supposed to be strictly A. (unless the exporter gives us presents like he tends to do) although later ones may have other genera.

Ryan, forget all those!!! Save some room up yo!!

This pair of C. atrox is at a good price & are ready to breed, so they're worth it; they will pay for themselves once they have babies. They're going to be "in storage" for at least a few weeks anyway (brumation), so they will not take up much space.

There is no solution besides personal responcibility. And, no I did not insult you, nor did I even use a word that could be taken as an insult.

As far as I know only A(ryan above me confirms). The ones im really after looks like wont come in this order.

The ones you're definitely after *might* not come in this order; it all depends on if the exporter can find them or not.

I do want to bring in some other genera eventually, but I'm not qualified to work with some of them just yet.
