Some Like It Hot

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Yeah, I have actually talked to Jeff Boudry, the LDWF official who does the permitting, its a wonky system. One can buy an hot at say Repticon, and at the time of the purchase the vendor takes your info and forward it to the LDWF and he eventually gets around to you.

Huh, that's weird. I wonder what they do if you don't meet the requirements after you possess a venomous snake?

no telling, the biggest issue here is funding, there is none hence the wonkiness. Its simply not an big enough issue here, to enforce it better or to fund the program better

That sounds to me like the result of someone whining that the state should have a permit system and blah blah, so the state slapped something together just to shut them up....

Another quick update:

The hybrid & copperhead are still feeding while the C. atrox appears to be preparing for winter; all three of them will be cooled for a month or so once temperatures stay around 50° F. I plan on breeding the copperhead once it is warmed back up & is fattened up a bit, but I need to get him his girlfriend(s); I should have her/them later this month or sometime next month. I expect to have the baby female A. b. taylori later in October. I also should have a decent-sized pair of C. atrox in a couple of weeks; those will be cooled ASAP as well as they're ready to breed, but their owner never tried brumating them or keeping them separately outside of breeding. Lastly, I'm hoping to have some extra special arboreals late this year or early next year if they can be acquired; their specific identity shall remain secret until I can confirm that I'll be able to get them.

All in all, if everything pans out, my collection is going to go into grow pretty fast this year & maybe even early next year before I slow down a bunch & get down to more extensive training with hotter species.

I know it's mentioned to be a secret until your acquisition can be confirmed, however I'm going to take a wild guess - C. insularis?

Regardless, sounds like you've got some exciting ventures happening in the near future.

The little C. simus is now at his new home, and the A. b. taylori were born yesterday, so I should have one in a couple of weeks. I also learned that my hybrid is a female rather than a male, and that my copperhead has a little extra something in it besides A. c. contortrix somewhere in its family tree (probably A. c. phaeogaster).

Good guess, but wrong part of the world. :)

I can confirm that I will be getting something for sure now, but the exact quantity & species are dependent on factors beyond my control.

Incorrect!!! He def does have some cool stuff, also hopefully he is gettin some stuff for me. Hehe!!

Eh, I'm not sure if you'll be getting anything; apparently these imports can be quite variable. ;)

Ok, possibly getting. Lol. I think we have already found it can be quite, hit or miss?
