Ok I got the fish ok, when I opened his mouth to take a look they were still eggs. So I gently got 2 out which I have put in a tumbler in the 10g. I also bumped up the salinity in the 10g so it would run about 40% of what is in the 180g.

Then I put the male back in the 180g and will let things play out as they will in the 180g.

If the females eat any fry that come so be it.

The 2 eggs that I put in the tumble have a white dot off center. Though I can not actually see any fry inside. Really depends how long it takes for fry to form from the eggs, or if the eggs are actually fertile.

So far as I can tell the male still has 3-5 eggs in its mouth. I took some pics today which I will upload when I get home.

Now the ? I have for anyone in the know is this.

What is the time frame for eggs to go from laid to hatch with a scenario like this?
just a quess but the average fish egg to fry is about 21 days so i would go with that as some sort of guide

Amateur answer coming.
Couldn't the brooding male be lifted with a bucket into another tank and salinity slowly lowered there to replicate the migration?.

I hope some fry hatch for you.

Ok so here are the pics I took of the other female that make me think she has eggs coming.

The bumps on her belly were not there yesterday. So unless she has tumors or cancer I would guess that she has some eggs coming. If I can I will take a string of pics when I see the dropping and fertilizing of eggs happening.

Just thought you would like to see some pics of the 2 eggs that I extracted from the male and the tumbler that I am using. It is to tall do it's normal vertical action in the 10g tank, so I have set it so the eggs move back and forth as the bubbles cause the tumbler to rock up and down.

If you look real close at the close up of the eggs you can see the white dots in the center. In terms of size they are slightly smaller than a small marble.

I would entertain the idea of moving the male shark to another tank and have a 75g at home that I am close to having set up for him.

Wow those are some large eggs! Btw congrats on the breeding so far! hopefully we can learn from your experiences and finally start breeding these interesting, little cats and their relatives sustainably in captivity.

wow seeing the eggs is awesome.. i knew mine had eggs in his mouth but i never got to see them... truly wonderful... how big are your sharks?

This is gonna be crazy if I can get the eggs in the tumbler to hatch.

The white dot in the egg is moving around and unless the eggs go non transparent I will be able to photo doc the development of the fry.

I will try to take a few pics and get close enough so you can see the dot more clearly

Very cool! Another thought I had for next time you strip try filling a tank 100% with water from the parents tank so the params will be the same and then from there start to lower the salinity.

good idea

update

One of the eggs in the tumbler was nothing but a shrunken shell it must have popped and everything inside drained out.

The second egg has had the white dot affix itself to a spot on the outside and the egg has begun to lose some of its spherical look. I will take a couple of pics to see if I can get a good shot of it.

One ? I have in mind is whether or not the egg will develop properly considering how I have it in the tumbler. At any rate time will tell I guess. The reason I wonder this is because if the fish is developing on the wall of the egg will it be affected in any way by touching the screen of the tumbler?

I came up with a quick fix it to modify the angle and placement of the tumbler to minimize any contact with the screen. I put my salinity tester on the back end of the tumbler so it it would catch a bit of the bubbles through the back and every so often release and cause a mostly level slight rocking motion of the tumbler as I really think that the one egg was burst because of to much movement.

Will upload the pics later today
