NO WAY!! So I could take a shot of, say, rattlesnake venom and it wouldn't do anything to me cuz it wasn't injected into my blood directly? Doesn't it make its way there eventually one way or another?

Hello; That is correct to my understanding. As long as you do not have open sores in your mouth, throat and such to allow it directly into the bloodstream. I seem to recall this from a biology professor but have not tried it. I also seem to recall that the digestive process is at work and the toxic portion of the venom (protein?) breaks down and does not enter the blood stream. I also think that some venoms can be a part of a snakes digestive process and help to soften prey from the inside.
 
lol, I have no intention of getting anywhere near a rattlesnake! And I'd totally chicken out on the shot too! ...Its good Jeopardy knowledge though...

No, there are not. There are venomous snakes, and there are non-venomous snakes; there are no poisonous snakes.
