Something Wrong With Marble

It just does not seem like rays do well in small tanks. Even if it's temporary. Sounds like it's a newer ray and you have a million fish in your tank. I would think your putting a good amount of stress on it with all the other fish. it's by far your most expensive fish if it was me I would have it in the 300 divided off and put some of the other fish in the 55 but overall it seems like it's time to decide what you want in your tank. And I hate being like so many others but honestly with all that stock in your 300 what are your nitrates? Nitrites? And Ammonia levels?

You are absolutely correct. I plan on moving some fish and focusing on keeping rays. I obviously have a lot to learn, but am trying. This far haven't ha to many issues, but fish will continue to grow.

The problem is when I put it in the 300 the motoros go after it for some reason and bite at it further stressing it. I did a water change in the 55 and am trying to treat it. I noticed on the underside there was like a red splotch. Tried taking a picture, but couldn't thinking bacterial infection. Any recommendations on that?

Try pool filter sand. What are you trying to feed him. Maybe an internal parasite? Maybe treat with prazipro. Have you tried blackworms? I've never seen a ray turn down blackworms.

55 gallon tank is too small too. What kind of substrate do you have in the larger tank? Maybe something like pool filter sand will allow the ray to hide when needed. Do you have lights on the tank? If so I'd try and keep it as dark as possible until the ray starts eating.

It had been eating earthworms and minnows and then stopped eating. I now see a red splotchy area under the disc. The 300 it was in has sand. I'm just wondering if I should treat it seep rarely or not. And with what, red splotchy area = bacteria infection???

I don't think it's eating because of the infection it may have. It was eating prior to that. If I can get it up on the glass again I will take a picture of the area. Was going to treat with seachem paraguard.
