Use a fine meshed net. And I meant iodine solution or betadine you buy in your pharmacy. HP can be bought there as well.

I'm not a fan of either Melafix or Pimafix. I use other methods when I can. I'm not telling you to dose any antibiotics but if I were you, find kanamycin or tetracycline if you haven't yet. What are your water parameters?

Separate the fish temporarily in another tank. The issue itself is not fungal but bacterial in nature.

so just try the iodine solution now? Which is better the iodine or the betadine? Is the HP last resort if it doesnt improve? Wat are kanamycin and tetracycline for? Would these be found in lfs? I already added the melafix dose yesterday but i havent added the second dose today. Ive been waiting on your advice if i should or not. Im going to have to wait until tomorrow for the parameters because i usually just bring it in to my lfs every week b/c i bring in fry for them every once in a while.

Betadine is iodine solution. Use betadine. I should have clarified this better. Forget HP if you opt to try betadine. HP was just an alternative.

And kana and tetracycline are antibiotics. Can you order online?

so i should forget about the melafix now? sure i can maybe try ordering online. Would i just dump the kana and tetracycline in like any other usual med for example melafix? where can i order some? drsfosterandsmith maybe?

No. Don't dose antibiotics yet. If the wound doesn't show any improvement after a week from treating betadine, then antibiotics may be needed.

So is that no for the melafix? The wound seems better now it stopped spreading i think.....not sure though....it isnt as red now so is that good? the only problem i see is where the broken bones of the tail are. The top rays are not lined up anymore so part of the tail sticks out like a extra fin. Sorry for my bad explanation skills

No Melafix. Healed wounds will turn white or black in some cases.:)
