Somethings wrong with my water? (Big fish kill)

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
well, that was an interesting morning here at my little farm...
The rural water people were very sure that there was a big water leak in my field where they knew there had been an old building at one time in the past.

The ground was not frozen and there was about 6" of water under the snow.
But that water is normal for this time of year as the snow melts.
They dug down and found the burried water pipe but there was nothing wrong with it.

They put a new type of cap on the end of the pipe, but this pipe was not the problem they have been looking for for two weeks.

Im asked and they still have me connected to a city water supply so I still have to be careful about future water changes.
My guess is that I will now have to use that water conditioner forever now...
I shot a few seconds of video and will post it on YouTube later...

what an odyssey ... kudos for sticking with it, not getting frustrated and figuring it out! many people would have lashed out at those on the forum giving advice days ago ;P

nice to see most of the ppl on MFK nailed the cause too.

As forum topics go, this one did take a weird turn did it not?

I didnt see the Rural Water part of this story turning out the way it did.
I NEVER expected to see a backhoe digging in my back yard!

When was the last time a guy started a topic about a dead goldfish on this forum, and had such a tale to tell before the topic was done?

Anyway, with any luck at all, this is about the end of this topic.
I hope people enjoyed the ride...

As topics go this one turned out to be a good one to remember whenever in the future someone talks about what might be a small problem with their tap water...LOL
I just spent a few moments going over this whole topic from start to finish.
It reads like a story...twists and turns in the plot...
I think it's funny the way I would be struggling to ask questions and learn things along the way.

It's also cool that this topic has a real ending, a real cause for the death of my fish because so many other times we never really know for sure why a fish died....

lol this is the 1st 7page thread that i have read every page of. It was like a suspense novel! Couldnt stop reading!
