Happy belated birthday!!!

I’m a little green jelly bean over your tank build!

Good luck, and I really do hope it comes to light

Canada eh
With the 2' width limitation, have you considered a wooden aquarium built directly into the wall with the shelves built around it? I think you would make the most of the space that way and it would probably end up looking better too.
+1. Maybe reinforce the existing bookshelf then treat it like a typical plywood tank. Maybe you can get separate sheets of either glass or acrylic that can have supports going vertically up the front to really capture the bookshelf look.

Happy belated bday. Good luck with your build.

I crash at the K-Pg
Thus far, Glass Cages seems to be the best option by far. I am strongly considering their 130x32x32" 500 gallon option for $3300. They offered me low iron glass as a free upgrade. No other manufacturer I've talked to so far comes close to matching this offer.

The only hangup I have so far on this is that the 130x24x24 is $1300 cheaper and the 130x24x32 (basically a super long 300) is $700 cheaper. And I'm cheap lol.

Talk me into it? :1zhelp:

I'm sure the extra inches of depth will be worth it! A low iron 500 gallon will be a sight to behold!

You can save a few thousand by going to goodwill, and buying coffee tables with glass tops, use the glass tops as the front panes only, since you will not be peering thru the back or sides of the tank.
Since you don't want to build it yourself have someone younger build it for you
(I'm sure you can find a place with young people's, hmmmmm:drool:)

Then take the legs from the scavenged coffe tables and add a wood top, find a pyrographer and have them print make copies of say fun times with your girl, make sure to chose significant emotional pictures plus a sign of commitment (such as your name + her name, above the word "forever" blah blah bala, this kills two birds with one stone

Well,

WideEnchantedBass-small.gif

2.5' it is then!

Here's a tentative drawing I did showing the proportions of the tank when combined with the shelves and ladder. The dimensions of the drawing are correct. TBH I may not do the shelving as idk how expensive cabinetry is. It's possible that making this nonsense could be $20,000; and if I wanted to spend that much, I'd just get a bigger tank.

Still though, I think the 130x2.5x2.5 with the free low iron upgrade is the ticket for me! Just gotta talk to my builder to see how feasible the finish work around it will be.

Will the shelf prevent you from having full access to the tank? In my experience that's very important to get everywhere
