Yes very interesting and now I see eggs in the breeding pairs cave. I am excited but worried about the amount if any of these babies will survive...I need more tanks..... But good news is that I have some new good homes for 8 - 10 of the more mature fry. Will update pictures of breeding pair, pictures of eggs may be impossible, especially with my set of camera skills.
Picture of the crowded tank and a Breeding pair in small tank. Eggs on wall of cave but dark orange. I have seen my convicts eggs turned this colour when nothing had fertilized them. What do you guys think?
I was catching fish to take to new home and disrupted the nest site and the female ate the eggs...not very smart but now the breeding pair are alone in tank to themselves and will not be bothered. Also I'm buying a 110 or 125 gallon tank off a guy it's 72 x 20x 19, which seems like a 125 to me but weird measurement. He wants 250$ Canadian obviously is this good price for tank only?
Only three or four hybrids left now happy to say they all went to good homes but here is some pictures of the largest male I will be keeping. Has some awesome coloration. couple with the parents as well. Still working with breeding pair, so far no fry.
Anybody have an idea of how big this male could get? My male red Ceibal is 6 inches or little more while my female convict is only four and has been for years? Will hybrid vigor effect him? Also worried about the safety of my female as he grows, after all she's the boss.
