ok, i have a question....... could you take the non- blue fry,Het for EB and breed them to another non related EBJD male and still have the same ratio of EB offspring? wouldn't that strengthen the gene pool somewhat? that way you wouldn't be inbreeding???? or does it really matter? I've read online that the EB's tend to be somewhat "weaker" and the crossing with a normal is to strengthen then somewhat. is that true??I just bought a 1"-1 1/2" EBJD and wanted to try breeding myself. so that brings up another question...... are all EBJD's male or are EB females just harder to come by??

Sounds good to me personally

yeah. he said earlier that females are harder to find.

It stands to reason.
My 2nd pair is just that...
The female BGJD came from my 1st pair's first spawn
The male is unrelated, to the first male as far as I know. Actually I think that all of the Blues can ultimately be traced back to Venezuela.
This is the pair that I will likely be selling in the next month after I pull fry and condition them. What do you think a pair like this is worth?

In case anyone is interested in, or wants to follow the auction for my pair...

thanks for the info. i wondered about genetic strengthening. that answered my question. and i checked out the auction ............:WHOA: !!!! IMPRESSIVE!!! good to see you'll be getting a decent price for the pair, maybe not paying for 2+ yrs of work, but decent nonetheless.best of luck.:D

Thanks,

Spawning these guys really hasn't been THAT difficult and I'm ready to make it easier for others to work with this beautiful fish.
I'll still be keeping a pair of EBJDs myself, at least for a while. I've decided to work on producing stronger fish by culling the weaker fish starting at about 2-3 months rather than letting the smaller, weaker fish grow. My guess is that I'll end up with 50-100 fish by 5-6 months. This also makes sense considering my limited space.
