If you fight the ticket and he shows up, YOU WILL LOSE.

If you decide to fight the ticket, that officer will get a noted to remind him of show up. You will lose.

I know this from exp. Yeah that bastard showed up and told me how he was notified to show when I decided to fight a ticket once. Just pay it and move along.

Fat chance if he does not show up.

:grinno: Here, you don't need to go to court to fight a ticket. Post your bail by mail, request for "Trial By Declaration" form. Fill it out, mail it back. Get your verdict in the mail

Actually, AFAIK, there is a law against eatting while driving. (under the umbrella of distracting the driver)
As well as driving "too fast" when weather does not permit it.
Not in California... Three years ago, it was prohibited to "talk" on the phone while driving. Guess what? People text, type (laptop) when they drive. A year later, they amended "not operate an electronic device" to that vc. Unless it's spelled out in a vc, there's a loop hole to fight ;)

Too bad! There's no law to prohibit eating while driving yet! :D If goes by your saying, listening to radio, checking out hotties on the street, talking to your passenger, sight seeing, etc... while driving would fall under that same category...

There's no such thing is "safe" speed... When you speed, it's always "unsafe" ;)

And I do none of the following. I drive my car to work and back and ride my bike to the market.
You see some idiot 10 years ago thought he was cool because he had a brand new mustang with TOP of the line stero system and mom and dad bought this brat a new phone. Well one night when my mom dad and sister were heading home the kid thought it would be cool to drive 80 miles an hour on a 35mph local neighborhood street ran a stop sign and t-boned my family. Noone survived but him, and he is in a wheel chair for life.

Have a nice day.

So how is the "chatting talking to your friends people in the car or drinking while driving?" Don't tell me you never did it. When I mean "ABSOLUTELY DO NOTHING", I really mean NOTHING !!!! I'll have a hard time to believe that but if you really did not, that's VERY good for you, man !!!!

I drive my car to work,

I do not CHAT... There is never anyone in my car on my way to work. I am not a kid. When you're grown up and understand the importance of RESPONSIBILTY you will understand.

And drinking while driving? Are you  serious?

This is a long thread that really won't get you anywhere until you show up in court and find out the intent behind the ticket.
Police write tickets for what is seen as unsafe....if the officer felt you eating a cookie was a danger to other driver's due to being distracted, you'll be up against it in court.

I was given a ticket for driving too slow one time. On my way to a car show (fully detailed classic car), driving over loose sand on a freshly surfaced road. The officer said I was impeding traffic - therefor a hazard, and I ended up paying for it.

Who said you are a kid? I'm not either. haha. I can't believe you think I'm a kiddo. lol. BTW, do you really think only kids can have friends and carpool? I truly hardly understand how is that possible that you never ever have any person, friends, family members.... chit chat and sit next to you in the car in your entire life ???

I'm talking about drinking water, soda, coffee ... not alcohol. You know what I mean..... Thats pretty hard to believe you did not ever drink those while driving too. Sigh. I guess you are the SPECIAL ONE. :headbang2
