Yeah I know. When the cop gave me the ticket, I even had to ask him again why he put "unsafe speed" on it because I was damn surprised !!!! Just can't understand the law sometimes. :nilly:

no its not bogus, they pretty much can give u ticket for anything, especially in this hardship of financial, they're out there to give tickets..best of luck fighting it and u certaintly have a chance to get the ticket dismissed, if u lost atleast u got an extension to pay the fine :)

I reallt don't understand your confusion...You were EATING while driving, so the safe speed that you can drive while eating is 0 ZERO. There is NO safe speed for eating, or texting. People die everyday because people are EATING, Texting, Talking on the phone, GENERALLY not PAYING attention to WHAT they are DOING. If you are doing anything other than PAYING attention to the road it is unsafe. I just hope you don't kill someone while eating your cookies. :)

Good point, which makes me wonder, would they not have a separate VC section for something like eating, texting, talking on the phone, etc? Or does it all fall under unsafe speed? Never been ticketed for any of these so I don't know...

You forgot something. Talking to your friends in the car, talking on the phone WITH A HEADSET, or even drinking, smoking, listening to music etc..... are all NOT PAYING ATTENTION and unsafe like you said too!! That means we should keep our mouths SHUT and ABSOLUTELY DO NOTHING while driving then.
I hope you were never did anything on that list while driving to be able to say those strong words out loud.

u wana beat it here u go straight from car and driver magazine

if you do get cited, there’s VC 40902, which creates a “trial by written declaration” option allowing you to defend yourself entirely through the mail. No time off needed for court appearances in front of grouchy magistrates. The best part is that the issuing officer must respond to your *declaration in writing or the ticket is void. Cops in California get paid overtime for court appearances but not for written responses, so they frequently don’t bother. As one speeder self-help website puts it, you can write “I didn’t do it” with a purple crayon on a piece of paper and still have a decent chance of getting off.

Sounds nice, but one of the commenters says this:

The write in is bogus, I had my lawyer write both of mine citing the above codes and you just receive a piece of paper back saying you are guilty, and by the way when that happens you are waiving your right to do traffic school.

Read below. Studys have shown that it's not the phone use but it's a conversation that causes you to be distracted. hope you have never talked to anyone while driving or listen to music or else your a hypocrite. Good day!!
