Spraypainting tanks backgrounds Black...... Yes/No?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I second the request for pics. And to stay on topic, spray paint should be fine as long as you paper and tape. Possibly use a cut plastic bag to totally cover the top.

I usually cut a piece of thin plexi glass and then paint the backside. I attach this to the glass with a very thin coat of silicone to prevent water from getting between them. A bit more work but you can be a lot more creative on a flat piece of plexi and you can also change the backing any time you like for pictures or out of boredom.

Dont know about spray paint... but i bought a Monster Acryilic tank that has been painted black and it looks great.... just like a real black backgroud! And i heard that if you don't like it... you can just peel it off easily!

Id go with spray too, and as its only a 30g you'll be able to move it outside easily on your own. Just mask up the top so no paint gets inside. IMO spary paint would be easier to remove than brushed on paint to.

Thanks for the replies guys. The spray paint worked fine.... but now I realize the front of this tank is all scratched up... so i think im going to buy a new one lol..... unless theres a good way to reduce/take out visible scratches in glass?

Cmon...PICS!
