Don't be worried guys.. From what I've read the best thing to do with big fish is just grab them and throw them in the water. Don't waste your time acclimating. Apparently ammonia is more toxic in warmer water so it's a bad idea to acclimate them to warmer water.

 Where'd you hear that from? Oh my!:WHOA: Good thing you mostly keep cichlids to just toughen that out. It's not the ammonia becoming toxic as you acclimate due to raised up temperature that's dangerous, it's the PH shock and temperature shock. You do that to a delicate fish that's "big", they will die FOR SURE if the temperature or PH was off more than by reasonable amount.

I ALWAYS check the temperature,PH, and GH of the water that's in the bag before anything then acclimate slowly. If water parameters are similar as your tank water, quick, little, or no acclimation is ok but that's rarely the case.

im no expert but i thought the bag should've been bigger as well for a 6" fish.

a bigger bag would of been a good idea ++++ there is no air in the bag.. you dont need alot of water, i have gotten fish shipped in with just enough water in the bag to cover them

oxygen is the key.. + bag buddies

see, i was confused... all this time I thought Bluestarflowerfish Was flowerhornsfrombeyhond, but thats her sisters site. apparently they are totally separate.

So i'm back to square one... still not sure if i'm going to get what, when and how much.
flowerhornsfrombeyond is Julie and bluestarflowerfish is Shawna. I didn't think they were sisters though.

Prolly from here... I just read this:
http://www.monsterfishkeepers.com/forums/showthread.php?t=5350
It says f higher temps and ph. Also says it is the ammonia from raising temps that will kill the fish.

Wow dude. that sucks....The SRT I got from bluestar was packed perfect and arrived perfectly healthy. Then again it was under 4", it fit the bag and it was summer time.

Any update on working anything out with BlueStar?

Not yet... she says she'll think about it overnight. i'll keep you guys posted.

i've decided to ask her for a refund. i think i'm taking this opportunity to "sit out" of the hobby for a while since i have a wedding to plan for in the next few months and this hobby is taking alot of my time (i do love it though)
