Good thing you mostly keep cichlids to just toughen that out. It's not the ammonia becoming toxic as you acclimate due to raised up temperature that's dangerous, it's the PH shock and temperature shock. You do that to a delicate fish that's "big", they will die FOR SURE if the temperature or PH was off more than by reasonable amount.I ALWAYS check the temperature,PH, and GH of the water that's in the bag before anything then acclimate slowly. If water parameters are similar as your tank water, quick,little, or no acclimation is ok but that's rarely the case.
