Starting a 20 gallon this saturday ADViCE AND TIPS WELCOMED

yeh it is for a 30 gallon....in the tank there all small oxygen bubbles i suppose is that ok?...there is water on the walls of the tank above the water and on the lid(like evaporated water) any tips?....when i buy the shrimp to start the cycling process should i buy a specific one should it be frozen more info on the shrimp to use....

i meant to say yes the powerhead is meant for a 30 gallon...
im asking about the tiny bubbles in the tank from the powerhead....
and look in the pics im talking about evaporated water thats on the inside of the tank glass and under the glass top
and last do you think i need more live rock or can i make due?
i would like to start cycling my tank today using the shrimp method so i want to be fully prepared
 
oh ok so i will fill it up some more...i will mix the water im adding in a seperate bucket and test the sg... i will also test the sg in my tank..if its low how do i make it higher..adding more mixed wateR? i don't want to mess up the sg levels so i want to learn how to add top off water correctly..sorry for my grammar if i don't put my words into the right context
 
is everything suppose to be at zero before you cycle the tank?

my mom said she has frozen shrimp in the freezer..can i use this to cycle the tank?..also when its finished cycling i will remove 90 percent of the water correct?...when i want to refill the tank now should i used mixed water or regular water?
 
those results look like after the cycle, unles your rock and sand weren't live...
i would add some more or at least dry base rock and let it become live

if you're usuing the shrimp put then in a nylon tight or something to keep them from falling apart and fouling the tank un-necissarilly..
 
well the rock and sand i bought live i don't know if there live now...umm is it possible the tank cycled by itself no way right... lol especially with no filteration...do i really need more live rock or will 8lbs due?

also about the water change if someone can help me out..thanks!
 
i don't plan on gettng any fish soon...just a hermit crab or something to learn the ropes of maintaining my tank this tank is for a school project theres no possible way i can get this tank cycled in a week right
 
if there's no fish or inverts you can add some salt directly to the tank

a tank (especially a SW one with LR) can and will cycle without any fish
