Starting a Discus Tank

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
They look so good in that tank.
They really pop against the green leaves.

any chance you could return the discus. Their eye in comparison to their body is way too big and their body shape isn't round either. Sorry, to break it to you but these fish will never look right

Agreed ^^
There is a thread that hillbilly started and they look similar.

I have done business with this guy for about a year. I do computer repairs ect for him. He has always been good to me with prices and advice in the past, In fact all of my other fish are from him and he has been instrumental in getting me into the hobby. He is well known in the area. Even the president of our local aquarium society buys discus from him. After reading your post and the thread that hillbilly started I sent him an email with the pics of my fish discus, other stunted discus and healthy discus. I received this response(a direct quote)."dont worry about it, the shape dosnt indicate health issues. Its the anal breeders that look for a perfect fish. Yours look pretty good." Being that I only paid $100 for 4 I thought I was getting a good deal.....

I have also only had them a few days and have been doing 40% water changes and feeding 4 times per day. So I don't think any damage was done under my care. Must have already been done. Now I have them and I am stuck with them. I don't kill my fish and wouldn't feel right selling them knowing they are stunted....Maybe this thread should be moved to lessons learned.

At least I have the humility to admit it though. I see many people on these forums do something stupid and then try and defend it even though they are clearly wrong. Thanks for the posts guys, much appreciated.
