IMHO I think you should have sanded the 2x4s down really good first and also I think you should have used plywood instead of particle board. Particle board doesn't hold up to moisture one bit. If you didn't coat it well enough you may have problems. Also idk about that plexi. It looks too thin and there is no frame to keep it from flexing...

The particle boardwill "bubble" and expand in spots from moisture, I would in the very least put a couple of thick coats of poly on the cage.
I also agree about the plexi, either use a router to "picture frame" it or use thick plexi.
Also those heat pads are NOT meant for wood enclosures let alone being wrapped in news paper!!!
